The City of West Branch, Iowa, (population 2,498) seeks to hire a Chief of Police.  Candidates must have ILEA certification required upon application.  A minimum of seven (7) years of law enforcement experience required, with one (1) year of supervision preferred.  The selected candidate would be subject to a background investigation, psychological evaluation, and oral interview.

The Police Chief will also be an active-duty officer who patrols scheduled hours and is on call when needed.  The department currently has four (4) full time, one (1) inactive part-time, and one (1) reserve police officers.  We have four police vehicles and a department station shared with the Fire Department.  The West Branch Police Department works well with both Johnson County and Cedar Sheriff and County Attorney Offices; as well as state and federal agencies.

The selected candidate will be required to establish a residence within an eight-mile radius of West Branch within six months of their date of employment, and continue residency within the eight-mile radius of West Branch as a requirement for continued employment with the City.
