Trash & Recycling

Trash and recycling collection is provided by Johnson County Refuse (an LRS Company) and is picked up every Friday (on holidays, pick up may be delayed one day). All trash and recycling containers should be placed curbside on Fridays by 6:00 a.m. Carts should be placed at least 6 feet apart.

Prices effective 7/1/2020:

Trash (black lid)

65 gallon $14.75 per month

35 gallon $12.75 per month

Recycling (yellow lid)

65 gallon $4.75 per month

95 gallon $4.75 per month

(If you are moving within West Branch (city limits), the carts stay with the property. Please do not remove them or take them with you when you move.)

Any questions about garbage or recycling, including to make arrangements for special collection, such as old appliances, or other items too large for regular weekly disposal, call Johnson County Refuse (an LRS Company) at 319-665-4498.

Please note: All residential trash and other bulky items that you would like to dispose of must go to the Cedar County Transfer Station, NOT the Johnson County Landfill. Bin	Material	Information
	Plastic	Recycle emblems #1-7. Containers must be washed clean.
	Metal	Tin and aluminum cans. Must be washed clean & labels removed.
	Glass	Clear, brown, blue & green. Must be washed clean.
	Cardboard	Corrugated or chip board. Must be flattened and no larger than 2’x2′ pieces.
	Paper	Newspaper, magazines, phonebooks, etc.
Not Recyclable	Styrofoam, Plastic bags, Broken glass, Window or mirror glass, Tissue paper & paper plates
