Garbage & Recycling

Garbage and recycling collection is provided by Johnson County Refuse and is picked up every Friday (on holidays, pick up is delayed one day). All recycling and garbage containers should be placed curbside on Fridays by 7:00 a.m.

Garbage that cannot be recycled must be placed in garbage bags or cans with a $1.25 yellow garbage sticker attached. Any bag or container over 20 gallons requires two (2) stickers.  Garbage cans must not exceed 35 gallons (in size).

Garbage stickers are available for purchase at City Offices, Dewey's Jack & Jill, and Kum & Go. Year-round garbage stickers may be purchased directly from Johnson County Refuse at 1-877-423-9877.

Any questions about garbage or recycling, including to make arrangements for special collection, such as old appliances, or other items too large for regular weekly disposal, call Johnson County Refuse toll free at 1-877-423-9877.
