I am the owner of Main Street Antiques & Art of West Branch, Iowa.  For the last 32 years, my business has been housed in the 1898 brick Old Citizen’s Savings Bank which is included in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the West Branch Commercial District (listed on 7 April 1987 and expanded since).  The structure was professionally restored (rehabilitated) 30 years ago.  In addition to running the shop, I am an organizer and promoter for various antique shows in the Midwest and show my artwork in a variety of venues.  Perhaps my most visible work was one of the 90 Herky on Parade entries shown through the greater Iowa City/Coralville area in 2004.  My Herky, now located in the entrance lobby to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, is painted as Herbert Hoover, the great humanitarian, delivering a bag of food.

I have had a long-term interest in history and historical architecture/structures.  My wife and I live in a rehabilitated Victorian house on the north edge of the Commercial District.  I am an active member of the West Branch Historical Foundation, have served as a past-president, and am currently on its board of directors.  I am chair of the West Branch Preservation Commission for the city and serve as the chair of the Main Street West Branch Design Committee.  I am currently involved with the ad hoc committees that are reviewing/updating the Preservation ordinance for West Branch, and with the Certified Local Government application process.
