I moved to West Branch in 1991, largely because a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house came on the market.  This house was actually designed and built by Wayne Paulson, a local builder and advocate of Prairie Style architecture.  I have long been interested in architecture and design and for decades have been a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, as well as the Johnson County Historical Society.  Currently, I serve as a member of the local design committee for Main Street West Branch.

My university teaching in a planning program involves matters of urban design and historic preservation, allowing interplay between preservation theory and practical considerations of encouraging preservation and upkeep of the local built environment.
