Utilities

A deposit is required for rental properties where the landlord has declared the tenant liable for City utility charges. The deposit will be calculated on 90 days average service of the previous account holder.

Billing
Water meters are read the 20th of each month. Accounts are then billed and mailed the 1st of the month with payment due on the 20th of each month. If you do not receive a bill in the mail, it is your responsiblity to call the City Office at 643-5888. Water meters are read in 1,000 gallons. Water is billed at $4.59 per 1,000 gallons with a minimum bill of 1,700 gallons. Sewer is bill at $3.65 per 1,000 gallons with a minimum bill of 1,700 gallons. A mandatory recycling fee of $4.25 will also appear on your monthly water bill.

Payment
As payment, the City accepts check; cash (correct change only, please); bank bill pay; or enroll in our automatic billing program - EasyPay. EasyPay customers can have their bill amount deducted automatically each month from their checking or savings account.

Payments may be:
• Mailed to City of West Branch, PO Box 218, West Branch, IA 52358
• Paid in person at the City Office at 105 S. 2nd St.
• Left in the drop box at the old City Office at 205 S 2nd St.

Reporting a Problem
Water and sewer problems after hours, on weekends or holidays, should be reported to 319-631-0646.

Landscape Meters
Landscape meters may be used for outside watering. The meters track water usage only and are not charged sewer. Call the City Offices at 643-5888 for more information.

Garbage that cannot be recycled must be placed in garbage bags or cans with a $1 yellow garbage sticker attached. Any bag or container over 20 gallons requires two (2) stickers.

Garbage stickers
Garbage stickers are available for purchase at City Offices, Dewey's Jack & Jill and Kum & Go. Year-round garbage stickers may be purchased directly from Johnson County Refuse at 877-423-9877.

Recycling Guidelines
Curbside recycling is mandatory in the City of West Branch. A monthly fee of $4.25 is included in your monthly wtaer and sewer bill (whether or not your recycle). Each residence is provided with free red and green recylcing bins. Bins are available at the City Office.
